Tea Park & Rec COVID-19 Statement

Based on the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to limit the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019), Tea Park & Recreation will be postponing all activities through Friday, May 1st. We will base our Spring Soccer scheduling decisions in accordance with Dakota Alliance Soccer Club’s decision on when their spring soccer season will resume. DASC will be re-evaluating the situation shortly, and we expect to hear from them after that time.

What does this mean?

All meetings, games, and practices are cancelled for all Spring Soccer teams until at least May 1st per the suggestion by Governor Kristi Noem. We will be working on our season’s schedule in the next few weeks when we have a better idea of our season’s start date.

Who does this effect?

All Tea Park & Recreation Spring Soccer teams. We are still planning on having a full season scheduled for all programs, when we are given permission to do so. Any children registered for both Spring Soccer and Baseball/Softball. We will do our best to not overlap any schedules that we can control, but we cannot guarantee that everything will work out perfectly. U5 & U6 Soccer should not be affected by the baseball and softball schedules. U8 Spring Soccer games will not overlap any 8U Baseball or Softball weekend practices. U5-U8 Soccer games will still take place on Saturday mornings. We cannot guarantee that U8 Soccer practices will not overlap any 8U Baseball or Softball games. U10-U12 Soccer schedules are controlled by DASC, and games can take place at any of the following times: Saturday afternoons, Monday evenings, Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, and possibly even Sunday evenings. This could potentially overlap with baseball or softball practices or games. If for whatever reason, you feel that you or your child might be overwhelmed by this scheduling please contact us before April 15, 2020. We will be offering partial refunds for spring soccer, and full refunds for baseball/softball at this time.

Regarding U5-U6 Spring Soccer:

As of right now, U5 & U6 spring soccer will resume when the season resumes for all other soccer teams. Practices & games will still take place on Saturday mornings.

Regarding U8 Spring Soccer:

U8 Spring Soccer could potentially overlap the 8U Baseball & Softball seasons. All spring soccer games at this age level are still scheduled for Saturday mornings when the season resumes. 8U Softball and Baseball practices will not take place on Saturday mornings. Softball games take place on Monday & Wednesday nights, and baseball games take place on Tuesday & Thursday nights. This could potentially conflict with any scheduled U8 spring soccer practices. If this scheduling will not work for you, please contact us before April 15, 2020. We will be offering partial refunds for spring soccer and full refunds for baseball and softball.

Regarding U10 & U12 Spring Soccer:

Dakota Alliance Soccer Club controls the spring soccer rec league game schedule at these age levels. Games could potentially be played on Monday evenings, Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and possibly even Sunday evenings. This season will most likely overlap the softball and baseball seasons at this age group. 10U & 12U Baseball games are scheduled for Mondays & Wednesday evenings, and practices are typically taking place on Saturdays and Sundays when that season starts. 10U & 12U Softball games are scheduled for Tuesdays & Thursday evenings, and practices also take place on Saturdays and Sundays when that season is in full swing. If you have a child registered in both spring soccer & baseball/softball, this will most likely have overlapping schedules. If you feel that your child will not enjoy participating in both programs, please contact us before April 15, 2020. We will be offering partial refunds for spring soccer and full refunds for baseball and softball.

Regarding Tea Park & Recreation Baseball:

Our season is still scheduled to resume on time. If, for whatever reason, we need to delay the season, we will contact you immediately. Please know that some children will be participating in both spring soccer and baseball. That will create some scheduling conflicts for families participating in both programs. Affected divisions will include 8U, 10U, and 12U Baseball. Please have patience with those families and with us regarding scheduling. We will try our best to avoid any overlapping schedules where we can.

Regarding Tea Park & Recreation Softball:

Our season is still scheduled to resume on time. If, for whatever reason, we need to delay the season, we will contact you immediately. Please know that some children will be participating in both spring soccer and softball. That will create some scheduling conflicts for families participating in both programs. Affected divisions will include 8U, 10U, and 12U Softball. Please have patience with those families and with us regarding scheduling. We will try our best to avoid any overlapping schedules where we can.

Regarding COVID-19 (from the CDC’s Coronavirus Disease 2019 website):

Take Steps to Protect Yourself

  • Clean Your Hands Often
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid Close Contact
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
    • Put distance between yourself and other people. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Take Steps to Protect Others

  • Stay Home If You’re Sick
    • Except to get medical care.
      • Seek medical help immediately if you are experiencing the following symptoms:
        • Fever
        • Cough
        • Shortness of breath
  • Cover Coughs And Sneezes
    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
    • Throw used tissues in the trash.
    • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Wear A Facemask If You Are Sick
    • If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. If you are not able to wear a facemask, then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room.
    • If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

Finally, we will be offering partial refunds for spring soccer participants and full refunds for baseball and softball registrants if you feel that it is in your family’s best interests to not participate in the upcoming seasons. Please contact us before April 15, 2020.
